Hemorrhoid Embolization
A New Alternative to Intrusive Anal Procedures for Hemorrhoids
American Endo Hemorrhoid Clinic : A Truly Innovative Option
American Endo Hemorrhoid Clinic is a painless new 45 min outpatient procedure performed by an Interventional Radiologist. It is performed via an IV in the arm or groin. A thin coffee straw-sized catheter is threaded over a hair-like wire into the artery. Using live x-ray guidance (Angiography), this catheter is maneuvered into the arteries supplying blood to the hemorrhoids. Next, tiny sand-like particles or coils are injected until all blood supply to the hemorrhoids is cut off, eliminating rectal bleeding and shrinking the hemorrhoids. The entire procedure is done without ever having to insert anything into the anus or having to make an incision, and the procedure is covered by insurance
Hemorrhoid Embolization
High Technical Success Rates
The technical success rate is over 95%, meaning that the hemorrhoids can be embolized without technical failure in over 95% of patients. The clinical success rate, defined as the reduction in symptoms (Bleeding and Pain), is over 85%. This results in patients preferring American Endo Hemorrhoid Clinic over other more intrusive procedures involving having to access the anus directly.
Meet Your Doctor
Dr. Morar completed his fellowship in Interventional Radiology at the Cleveland Clinic in 2005. Since then, he has performed over 25,000 Image-guided Interventional Radiology procedures, including over 1000 complex embolization procedures such as the new Hembo™ procedure. He is proud and fortunate to have never had a major complication from any embolization procedure. Moreover, he was one of the first physicians in the world to publish a research paper on the topic of embolization of a hemorrhoid artery for bleeding as early as 2005.

ELIMINATING UNNECESSARY RISKS
Results in One Session
Unlike banding procedures or even surgical ligation, which may require multiple procedures, Hembo™ is usually a one-time treatment. This eliminates multiple visits and the risk of complications.
Painless Procedure
The inner lining of the blood vessels has no pain receptors, so the patient cannot feel the catheter moving or the sand-like particles/coils stopping the blood flow to the hemorrhoids. The patient will feel an initial needle stick as felt with starting any IV. Despite this, all patients are offered conscious sedation (twilight-type medication) to optimize patient comfort.
